How to use the menu feature in WordPress
Using the menu feature is the BEST and most likely the only way to organize your content.
When I was growing up, and had a report to do for school, I had to go to the library. There were cabinets filled with index cards organized by topics (categories). Once I found what I was looking for I searched the stacks of books until I found the book (the content) until I found my topic.
It was quite a journey and time consuming!
On a blog/website categories” are topics similar to the library cabinets. But you get to choose how you want to organize your content in a way that makes sense to your reader.
I’ve created a video to show you ow to create and use the menu feature on your blog.
Some suggestions:
- make each section of your menu relate to the topic
- avoid repeating names, titles
- visitors SCAN content so you want titles of content to be short and clear
- You can change the title of a post or page in the menu. This is a good thing to do if your post has a long title. For example: Title of post – “How to Create and Use the Menu Feature on Your Blog” Shortened title: “Create a Blog Main Menu”.
- make your menu EASY to and UNCOMPLOCATED navigate
