Honestly this works if you do a weekly facial for smooth and clear skin.
This is for the ladies …
At 64 I noticed my skin was looking “ruddy”, dull, boring , right? That young fresh look was gone. It’s just a part of aging where your skin loses its youthful tone and color.
So how did I stumble on doing a home style facial?
A few months ago I treated myself to a facial at a spa. I said, why not! I think this was the second time in my lifetime to have one because they can be pricey – $50 – $150.00 for 30 or 60 minutes, depending on where you go for a facial.
So I remembered what was done:
- My face was steamed
- Then a suction device was used around and on my nose, chin, and forehead
- Then my face was slathered with moisturizer
I could do this at home!
Yep. So I searched for a facial steamer and a “Comedo” (blackhead) remover and purchased them.
Happy with my purchase, I’ve been doing my home style facial for a month now. My face looks brighter on a regular basis by getting rid of a build-up dirt and blackheads weekly.
And I save money too
For a moisturizer I use plant based oils: Coconut or olive oil. Often vitamin E (which I’ve used since I was 20-years-old) on my face. Occasionally, I’ll use a hydration moisturizer – “Moisture Surge” (which is very good) by Clinique. I use Shea butter on the rest of my skin. And I NEVER forget the neck and collar area.
The products I use from below are:
- Xmayr Nano Ionic Facial Steamer. It steams for 12 minutes – just enough time for using the comedo suction
- Blackhead Remover Suction Comedo (3rd in from the left). It has different strengths and can be strong enough to suck your lips in! So explore and find the right suction level for you.
So, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to feel and look great when we age – especially when you can do this at home, right?
I enjoyed sharing this with you ladies 🙂

Sounds like a pretty nice home spa routine. I use organic virgin coconut oil for just about everything…the stuff is amazing!
Hey Kimberly,
Great to see you visiting! I use coconut oil too. The more basic and natural the better … 🙂
Hi Lesly,
Stem then extract is a wonderful facial regiment. I was just thinking of purchasing an “extractor” myself. Next time I go shopping I will. This clinched it! I rather do my own facials than have it done professionally. I did go to a professional on and off but had a bad reaction to the stuff they used. I like natural stuff like coco butter, because it seems to work well for me.
I love this post!

Hi Donna,
Wonderful to see you visiting, thanks. Gosh, I have spent so much $$ on “Beauty” products and I just found doing it myself is the best. I spent $75.00 on a facial where some glop was massaged on my skin then steamed. Heck I can do this. Now I just use 100% Witch Hazel as a facial rinse and coconut oil for a moisturizer. Then the steamer and extractor once or 2x a week. That’s it/ I also to fascia blasting – that’s a whole other topic. You can find out about this on Facebook – “Ashley Black Guru”.
A good steamer is a lovely idea. It is funny that you were extra careful to mention the neck and chest as I was just speaking to a 20 something and reminded her that it is super important to moisturize here as it can really show your age.
Hi Rachel,
Yes I got your comment 🙂
I was seeing a professional but it got to costly. Now I do this facial treatment at home, weekly with good results. It only takes a week for the pours in your skin to get clogged with dirt, dead cells, etc. So my skin is smooth and brighter. I can feel the difference … thanks for stopping by – appreciate it …
I need to do something with my face, Never considered a facial because I am allergic to EVERYTHING! Doing on myself, will allow me to select the products I use on my skin. Definitely saving this post! (Going to share it, too!)
Hi Jeanette,
Thank you for the visit and your comment – I appreciate it. Yes, easy to do at home and I did this for the same reason – to use my own products and not be swayed to purchase anything new… lol
Hate to hear you have problems with reactions to products like I do! Wouldn’t wish it on an enemy. Yet another reason I do not want to have kids from my body. I remember breaking out in the hives all the time when I was little.
